East Hempfield Water Authority was founded in 1941. Pumping water was delayed until 1947 because of World War II when cast iron and steel were not available. The system started with 6 miles of pipeline, one pumping station and a one hundred thousand gallon storage tank, which are still in use today.
The Authority was formed to supply good quality water at a low cost to the Landisville and Salunga area. We now have 92 miles of pipeline, six pumping stations and six storage tanks throughout our system. We still strive to improve and maintain our system with quality water and at a low cost.
